King’s short BHP stint over
(Aug 28, 2017)
Kalgoorlie Consolidated Gold Mines (KCGM) has appointed Cecile Thaxter as its first female general manager.
Thaxter, who started in the role this week, joined KCGM from Newmont Mining’s Phoenix/Lone Tree operations in Nevada, where she was also the general manager.
Since 2008, Cecile has served in several roles at Newmont, including as regional chief financial officer for North America.
She was also Newmont’s first female and financial professional selected to fill an executive operational role.
Before joining Newmont, Thaxter served in various finance, strategy, and business roles, including investment banking in New York and Tokyo.
Thaxter replaces Ian Baxter, who was general manager for KCGM since November 2014. Baxter will remain with KCGM as Thaxter transitions into the role.
The appointment is made by KCGM’s executive committee, which consists of representatives from its joint venture partners, Newmont and Barrick Gold.
